To automate farming in Palworld, utilize mechanical farming systems and configure farming automation tools properly for efficient throughput.

Efficient Farming Strategies

Four plantations do the growing: Berry, Wheat, Tomato and Lettuce. The Berry Plantation is the one to start with — technology tier 5 for 2 points, built from 3 Berry Seeds, 10 Wood and 10 Stone. Those seeds go into the structure, not the harvests, so it keeps producing Red Berries without being restocked.

prerequisites

  • Ensure you have unlocked the necessary technologies in the tech tree.
  • Plan the layout of your farm for optimized automation.
  • Decide what crops to grow based on your resource needs.

Setting Up Farming Automation Tools

steps

  1. Install the mechanical farming systems at the designated farming plots.
  2. Assign the appropriate Pals to each machine based on their work suitability levels.
  3. Test the system to ensure smooth operation.

A crop is not one job but four. Planting sows the seed, Watering keeps it alive, Gathering brings the harvest in, and Transporting hauls it away, so a plantation with only a Planting Pal stalls halfway through its cycle. The Berry Plantation takes up to two workers per phase, and the field roles scale together: output roughly doubles per suitability level, and Gathering adds five to the crop yield with each one. A cycle is those three phases plus the crop's growth time.

Version 1.0 raised Work Suitability to 10 levels, and each rank-up now raises one of a Pal's levels, with maximum rank raising all of them.

Pals That Lift the Whole Base

Two effects lift a farm without being assigned to a plantation:

  • Cinnamoth's partner skill Mysterious Scales raises the Farming Work Suitability Level of every other base Pal by one while Cinnamoth is at the base. It does not stack.
  • The Ranch Master passive skill gives Ranch Work Suitability +2, and v1.0 added Applied Ranching Handbook I, an item that raises the ranching level directly.

The ranch half changed with 1.0 too: output went up, ranch production time became a World Setting you can dial, and Vaelet now drops seeds while ranching.

Optimizing Your Automated Farm

A stalled farm now announces itself: version 1.0 added an alert when no Pal at the base meets a facility's required Work Suitability. Hauling improved in the same update, with a Pal's Transport level widening the area it sweeps dropped items of the same type from in one pass.

Worker condition matters too. Base Pals no longer lose SAN when they take damage, one placed in a hot spring stays until its SAN has fully recovered, and the Clinic and Ancient Clinic cut SAN depletion in proportion to the Medicine Production suitability of the Pal assigned. Patch v1.0.3 (August 12, 2026) fixed two faults a farm feels directly: a summoned Pal that could stop helping with base work, and Alpha Surfent failing to produce Leather on a Ranch.

FAQ

What are the best practices for automated farming setups?

The guide recommends utilizing suitable mechanical farming systems, assigning the right Pals based on work suitability levels, regular maintenance of machinery, and strategically placing crops to optimize space and output. Staff all four roles — Planting, Watering, Gathering and Transporting — because a plantation only runs end to end when every phase has a worker.

How many Pals can work one plantation?

The Berry Plantation takes two per work phase. The other way to speed one up is Work Suitability level, since output roughly doubles with each one.
