Project Zomboid
The Indie Stone's sandbox asks one question — how will you die — and sets it in the Knox Event exclusion zone, a map loosely based on real Kentucky. No help is coming. Zombies swarm, and they see and hear: getting spotted or firing a gun is what turns a quiet street into a horde. Skills and perks grow out of what you actually do, and a character has to carry depression, boredom, hunger, thirst and illness alongside the bites. The electricity falters, hordes migrate and winter draws in. Multiplayer runs on persistent player-run servers, and between the sandbox menu and Lua modding almost none of the above is fixed.
